Legal Information

AWA Refiners were established in 1991 and have been one of the market leaders in processing scrap computer boards, precious and high-value metals ever since.

Our dedicated and friendly team based in Harlow, Essex, includes Steven Warrin, David Ali, Michelle Savvides and Stuart Satchell who offer over 70 years of collective experience in the fields of precious metal refinement and electronic recycling.

Responsible sourcing and Due Diligence policy

AWA Refiners recognises its responsibility to support and encourage responsible sourcing as a market leader of precious metal refining and electronic recycling in the UK. As demand for precious metals has increased, recycling is an important element in ensuring sustainability. AWA Refiners is committed to responsible sourcing and has in place due diligence procedures to ensure that the sources of recycled PGM material have not financed conflict, terrorism, money laundering or the abuse of human rights.

As a key part of this commitment, AWA Refiners will only source from the UK except in limited and exceptional circumstances. Any non-UK transactions will be subject to an enhanced risk assessment and additional due diligence of the company and its beneficial owners.

AWA Refiners requires all suppliers to complete due diligence forms and comply with KYC documentation regardless of platinum or palladium content or quantity. All data received will be verified AWA Refiners has over time built strong relationships with its suppliers based on strong customer support, competitive pricing and trust. The scope and depth of the due diligence assessment will be proportionate to the risk, location and value of the opportunity. For example, AWA Refiners does do business with small businesses and individuals and in these circumstances, we use a lighter due diligence process to match the risks we face and to make the requirements less onerous on smaller organisations.

Our compliance and due diligence procedures are integrated into our sales process and Michelle Savvides, Sales Director leads these procedures. Ultimate responsibility for due diligence rests with the Company Directors – Dave Ali and Steve Warrin.

We seek to communicate our policy to all our suppliers, employees and counter-parties. Any individual who has a concern may contact either Director of AWA Refiners at steve@awarefiners.com or dave@awarefiners.com
